Investment firm Blue Heron Capital announced earlier that it has invested US$3 million in series B financing in Virginia-based Local Voice Media. The funding earned from the investment will go to the expansion of Local Voice into Columbia, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and Wilmington which are all found in southeast U.S.
Local Voice, which was established in Williamsburg, Virginia, upgrdaes traditional radio stations into modern local media units by inviting visitors and listeners to their digital platform through radio. The company is driven by the belief that local media companies will dominate the future of this market, eventually surpassing newspaper, radio and television in delivering local stories across several platforms.
Blue Heron Capital, an investment firm based on Richmond, Virginia, specialises in providing operational assistance on top of capital for the companies it invests in.
"We are happy to continue our support of Local Voice Media as they expand across America. Their disruptive approach to delivering unique local content will benefit consumers who want to feel connected to the communities in which they live," commented Blue Heron Capital co-founder Tom Benedetti.
