United Arab Emirates (UAE) is poised to become a strong competitor in the global artificial intelligence (AI) sector after releasing the Falcon 2 11B AI model. Developed by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the Abu Dhabi-based entity behind Falcon, Bloomberg reports that it has enhanced capabilities compared to other AI models, like Meta and OpenAI.

UAE's AI Sector

UAE reveals its ambitious AI initiatives with Falcon, including significant investments and new businesses.

With the formation of AI71, a new company dedicated to commercializing Falcon, the UAE aims to accelerate the adoption of AI solutions across various sectors, including healthcare, law, and customer service.

Unlike OpenAI's initial models, Falcon AI's latest update already offers better language support and groundbreaking "vision-to-language" capabilities, enabling seamless conversion of images into text. This functionality holds valuable potential for various enterprise applications, including medical diagnostics and educational content analysis.

Looking ahead, the development of the Falcon AI system will be overseen by the newly established Falcon Foundation, which will follow the open-source principles of the Linux Foundation.

This commitment ensures that Falcon will remain freely accessible, fostering collaboration and innovation within the global AI community.
