Samsung Electronics Appoints New Semiconductor Business Chief

The South Korean tech giant announced Tuesday that Young Hyun Jun was named as the new head of the Device Solutions (DS) Division and will take effect immediately.

This leadership change comes as Samsung seeks to strengthen its semiconductor business amid an uncertain global market. Jun, who has been with Samsung since 2000, has an extensive background that includes roles in DRAM and Flash memory development and strategic marketing.

He headed the Memory Business in 2014 and served as CEO of Samsung SDI in 2017 before overseeing the Future Business Division this year.

Samsung Electronics on Growing AI Chip Market

This leadership shift comes as Samsung aims to address the challenges posed by a rapidly growing AI chip market. Jun's appointment aims to steer the semiconductor division through these challenging times and boost its market position.

Kyehyun Kyung, the former head of the DS Division, will now lead the Future Business Division and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT). Kyung's new role will focus on identifying and developing new growth opportunities for Samsung based on his experience heading the semiconductor business.
