The new Singapore-Microsoft partnership will help SMEs or small and medium enterprises adopt AI more easily and faster. The new collaboration will specifically be between Microsoft, the national AI Singapore (AISG) program, and the trade agency Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG).

Singapore-Microsoft Partnership To Help SMEs Adopt AI Easier, Faster

According to The Straits Times, the new Microsoft-Singapore partnership is expected to assist over 1,000 local small and medium enterprises boost their productivity.

The latest initiative will allow these businesses to access the AI assistant Microsoft Copilot, which can be used within Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications.

The EnterpriseSG said it would subsidize 50% of the license cost for the Microsoft Copilot for eligible SMEs. This effort will last for one year.

In addition, Microsoft and EnterpriseSG will also work with AISG to assist businesses in establishing their AI capabilities and train them on how to be responsible when using Microsoft Copilot and other AI models, as reported by the Singapore Business Review.

Microsoft Excited To Boost Singapore's AI Adoption

On Tuesday, May 21, Microsoft Singapore Managing Director Lee Hui Li said that they are excited to assist SMEs in adopting artificial intelligence and boosting their productivity through the use of AI.

"We want to create an ecosystem where leaders are empowered to develop an AI strategy and roadmap for their organizations, and employees are equipped with the skills, tools, and technology to thrive in the era of AI," she explained.

Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong stated that thanks to the arrival of generative AI models, opportunities for both workers and enterprises have widened in the country.
