Sithe Global Power confirmed that chief executive officer and chairman of Sithe Global Bruce J. Wrobel is retiring from the international energy company. Sithe Global Power is a power development corporation managed by funds monitored by Blackstone on account of its individual investors.
Succeeding Mr. Wrobel as chief executive officer is the current Sithe Global president Martin B. Rosenberg. Sithe Global chief commercial officer Brian H. Kubeck will take over as president. "For over three decades, I've had the privilege of working with one of the world's greatest energy development teams. I'm proud of the work we have done and am confident in Sithe Global's continued growth and success under Marty and Brian's leadership," Mr. Wrobel noted.
Sithe Global had successfully developed a couple of internationally renowned electric generating projects since Blackstone's initial investment in the company back in 2005. These projects include the US$1 billion 875 MW Goreway Station Project in Canada and the US$900 million 250 MW Bujagali hydropower facility in Uganda.
"Bruce's vision has played an instrumental role in Sithe Global's growth from a startup in 2005 becoming a leading power developer with projects spanning the globe. We appreciate Bruce's contribution over the last eight years and wish him continued success," David Foley, a Blackstone Energy Partners executive said.
