Former President Donald Trump's ex-economic advisor Peter Navarro predicted that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will be fired in a second Trump administration.
During an interview conducted from within prison, Donald Trump's incarcerated former trade advisor also warned of "mass deportations" if his former boss returned to the White House.
Peter Navarro's Interview in Jail
Peter Navarro, 74, is now in jail at the low-security FCI Miami prison in Florida. He is serving a four-month sentence after being found guilty on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress.
In 2022, charges were brought against him for his refusal to cooperate with the House select committee's investigation into the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. He declined to provide testimony or documentary evidence as requested.
In a recent interview conducted by Navarro from behind bars via email with Semafor, he shared his predictions on the potential "unfinished business" that could resurface if Trump were to regain the presidency in November.
He emphasized the importance of bringing back private sector supply chains and manufacturing to the United States. He expressed concern about the country's vulnerability to foreign coercion in industries such as defense, tech, and pharmaceuticals.
"American multinational corporations naturally want to offshore American jobs in their search for cheap, sweatshop labor and pollution havens," Navarro said.
However, tariffs and economic restrictions are just the tip of the iceberg. During the first 100 days, it is expected that Trump will make commitments to tighten border security and address the presence of immigrant populations within the country.
Navarro expressed his belief that there will be swift action taken to secure the border and initiate large-scale deportations. He attributed the perceived increase in crime, terrorism, and a lack of education to the policies implemented by President Joe Biden.

Navarro Expects Trump to Wipe Out Officials Who Will Oppose Him in Second Term
According to Navarro, any former staff members who expressed even the slightest opposition to Trump's plans during his first term will not be considered for reappointment to serve the GOP presidential nominee again. Among those mentioned are Gary Cohn, Trump's former chief economic advisor, and Steven Mnuchin, the former Treasury Secretary.
Navarro claims that they made efforts to "soften" Trump's economic agenda. Only individuals who are fully committed to Trump's vision will be considered for the upcoming term.
Trump, the presumptive Republican candidate for president, has previously stated his opposition to reappointing Powell as the head of the Fed.
Trump, who initially nominated Powell to head the central bank in 2018, got fed up with the chair towards the end of his first term due to Powell and the Federal Reserve raising interest rates.
In November 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Powell for a second four-year term. The Senate confirmed him in May 2022 with a vote of 80-19. The end of his current term is set for 2026.
