New details on the alleged affair that Elon Musk and Nicole Shanahan both denied were recently revealed by The New York Times (NYT).
Shanahan is the California lawyer picked by presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be his running mate for the 2024 election, and the NYT published an article about her on Wednesday, which includes her partying with Silicon Valley's tech elites and recreational drug use that included ketamine, cocaine, and psychedelic mushrooms while being married to Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Alleged Affair of Elon Musk and Nicole Shanahan
The NYT sources said Nicole Shanahan admitted to Sergey Brin that she had a sexual encounter with Elon Musk after they both took ketamine at a private party in 2021 that led to their separation.
According to the report, the COVID-19 pandemic and their daughter's autism diagnosis put a tremendous strain on Shanahan and Brin's marriage, which led to Shanahan going out and attending events without Brin.
At one party in Miami in early 2021, the NYT reported that Shanahan was so intoxicated by alcohol and drugs that she required an IV infusion.

Elon Musk and Nicole Shanahan Reportedly Disappeared Together For Several Hours
According to the report, Nicole Shanahan met Elon Musk, a longtime friend of Sergey Brin, at her birthday party at a New York club in the fall of 2021. She saw the Tesla CEO again in December 2021 at a private party in Miami hosted by his brother, Kimbal Musk.
The NYT sources said it was at that party that Musk and Shanahan both took ketamine and "disappeared together for several hours." The insiders added that Shanahan later told her former husband that she had had sex with the tech billionaire before sharing the details with family, friends, and advisers.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) first reported about the alleged affair between Musk and Shanahan in July 2022, which allegedly stirred up a rift between Musk and Brin.
Musk denied the affair at the time, saying in an X post: "This (WSJ report) is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I've only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic."
He also said in another post: "Haven't even had sex in ages (sigh)." Musk's relationship with singer Grimes had already ended at the time. The two have three children together. However, the WSJ stated then that it stood by its reporting and was confident in its sourcing.
Shanahan also denied the affair. She told People last year: "My career has been based on academic and intellectual credibility, and I was being shamed internationally for being a cheater... To be known because of a sexual act is one of the most humiliating things... it was utterly debilitating."
In response to the NYT article, Shanahan told an NYT reporter that she was "shocked" the media outlet "is letting you run something like this."
