Others are believed to be trapped in the ruins. Medusa Beach Club restaurant had three stories, with spacious terraces on the middle and top floors supported by pillars.

Spain's Majorca Beach Club Collapse

Video from the state-owned station RTVE appeared to show that at least some of the terraces had collapsed to the ground level, with rescue staff in hard helmets and reflective vests digging through the wreckage to extract casualties.

It was unclear whether any of the building behind the terraces toppled during the collapse, which occurred at 8 p.m. local time.

Majorca's rescue services said four individuals were confirmed dead and 16 were injured, but Spanish news agencies reported that officials had increased the number of injured to 27. Officials did not disclose the victims' nationalities.

There are still believed to be around ten individuals trapped inside the debris as rescue operations continue. Psychology experts have been called in to provide support to the victims who have been deeply affected by the tragic events, as per Daily Mail.

According to reports from local media, the group of individuals who tragically lost their lives consisted of three women and one man. It was also noted that two of them worked at the club, which recently introduced a new rooftop bar, as showed on its Instagram page.

Search and Rescue Continue

According to a report from IB3, individuals were dancing on a terrace that collapsed onto a lower floor. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.

Local residents have shared stories of a sudden collapse at an infamous establishment in Mallorca. The incident involved the collapse of two stories of a restaurant and night club, catching everyone by surprise.

Emergency services are requesting that people maintain silence while crews finalize the search and rescue operations.

Majorca is the largest of Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, and it is a popular holiday destination for northern Europeans throughout the year. Despite being independent from Catalonia, many local islanders speak Catalan, the Balearics' official language.

The Medusa restaurant and music venue is located in Playa de Palma, close to Palma, the island chain's capital and main city. It is located on Calle de Cartago - Carthage Street - facing the Bay of Palma.
