The disagreement revolved around Elon Musk's $24 billion venture, xAI, his generative artificial intelligence startup.

Musk aims to outpace competitors such as OpenAI, Microsoft Corp., Google LLC, and Meta, who are all vying for dominance in the AI market, reminiscent of the historical scramble for physical territory.

According to Silicon Angle, Musk recently announced on X that he is actively seeking individuals to join his team of AI experts.

However, he is specifically looking for individuals who share a strong belief in their mission of understanding the universe. He emphasized the importance of relentlessly pursuing the truth, regardless of popularity or political correctness.

LeCun responded to Musk's job posting, expressing their opinion that Musk shares unconventional conspiracy theories on his personal social platform.

Adding to the criticism, LeCun highlighted a potential contradiction in Musk's AI aspirations, suggesting that his employees may be working on a project with potentially harmful consequences for humanity.

Musk has previously expressed concerns about the potential dangers of AI. Despite some concerns about AI and its potential to cause catastrophic events, numerous experts in the field have dismissed the notion of an existential threat as exaggerated.

After LeCun stated that he is more focused on scientific pursuits rather than business or product development, Musk responded by suggesting that LeCun was simply following instructions, Gizmodo reported.

In a conversation that began to seem somewhat childish for two accomplished individuals, LeCun stood up for his work at Meta, which elicited laughing emojis from Musk.
