Doug Leone, a billionaire venture capitalist and former leader of Sequoia Capital, has announced supporting Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

This seemingly reverses his earlier stance about the former president following the January 6 Capitol attack. Leone previously said that Trump incited the riot.

Doug Leone Expresses Support for Donald Trump

On Monday, Doug Leone said he would support Donald Trump for president in this year's election. Leone's change of stance comes amid growing concerns on various national issues under the Biden administration.

In a post on X, he cited the "broken immigration system, the ballooning deficit, and foreign policy missteps" as among his reasons for backing Trump.

"I have become increasingly concerned about the general direction of our country... Therefore, I am supporting former President Trump in this coming election," Leone wrote.

Donald Trump Gains Support From Silicon Valley

Following the January 6 Capitol attack, Doug Leone had publicly denounced Donald Trump, criticizing his actions during the riot. He said the former president's behavior caused him to lose many of his supporters, including him.

Leone's endorsement now aligns with other tech industry figures who have shown renewed support for Trump, even after his recent felony conviction in New York. Among these Silicon Valley elites are Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire and billionaire venture capitalist David Sacks, who have also said they will support Trump.
