Nearly 100,000 Toyota Tundra trucks and about 3,500 Lexus LX 600 luxury SUVs are being recalled by the automaker to address an issue that might lead to engine power loss while driving.

According to a CNN report, some of these cars may have manufacturing particles lodged in the engine, which may cause knocking, harsh running, not starting at all, or loss of power altogether while moving.

The company warned about the increased likelihood of accidents associated with faster speeds and less engine power.

The cars in question are Tundras and LX 600s from the 2022 and 2023 models equipped with the V35A six-cylinder engine. The company told The Drive that the defective V35A engine has main bearings that enable the crankshaft to revolve within the engine assembly while running.

The recall is just affecting ordinary gasoline-powered vehicles, not hybrids, as stated by Toyota.

Meanwhile, Toyota has not yet decided on a solution. By the end of July, owners of the possibly impacted vehicles will get a letter from the car maker informing them that it is actively working on a fix.
