Two prominent figures in the tech industry are set to host Donald Trump for a significant fundraising event in San Francisco on Thursday. This development indicates a shift in the industry's stance toward the former president, which was previously characterized by hostility.
Big Tech CEOs Host Trump as Fundraiser
According to Reuters, David Sacks, a renowned venture capitalist and member of the influential "PayPal mafia," will be hosting the fundraiser at his luxurious Pacific Heights residence.
Tickets were available at a price of $50,000 per person, with an additional tier priced at $300,000 that offered exclusive perks such as the opportunity to have a photo taken with Trump.
Just one week after former President Trump was found guilty of multiple felony charges in New York, the latest development has emerged. These charges were related to the falsification of business records in connection with a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016.
The co-host is Chamath Palihapitiya, founder of investment firm Social Capital, renowned for his advocacy of special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) during the recent tech boom. Sacks and Palihapitiya are among the four hosts of the widely acclaimed All-In podcast.
The event has reached full capacity and is projected to generate a staggering $12 million in funds for Trump. Sacks chose not to provide a statement. Palihapitiya did not respond to requests for comment at the time of publication.

Tech Industry Changes Stance Toward Trump
The fundraiser in the heart of the tech capital reflects a changing sentiment towards Trump, particularly in a traditionally liberal stronghold. Despite his longstanding conservative views, Sacks made a donation to Democrat Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.
Over the past few years, he has shown his support for the Republican party and openly endorsed Trump once it became evident that he would be the Republican nominee. According to campaign records, Palihapitiya made a generous donation of over $250,000 to Biden in 2020.
