Costco's Tillamook cheese might be contaminated with plastic. Thus, the American giant retailer announced that it is recalling the cheese brand. Should consumers be worried? Here's what you should know.
Costco Tillamook Cheese Possibly Containing Plastic Now Being Recalled
Costco sent its customers a letter to confirm the Tillamook cheese product recall. The warehouse club recalled these dairy items because "gray and black plastic pieces" were found in some.
But, Tillamook County Creamery Association Executive Vice President Mike Beaver said the potential plastic contamination isn't that serious.
"If you have already consumed the product without issue, you do not need to take any action, as the likely presence of the foreign plastic material is very minimal," he explained via Yahoo News.

Contaminated Costco Tillamook Cheese
According to Forbes' latest report, Tillamook and Costco didn't confirm how many cheese products were affected by the plastic contamination. However, they disclosed information on specific items.
They said that the 32 oz. twin-pack packages of Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack cheese slices were mostly contaminated with plastic. Specifically, the recalled items have the item number "651195" and a Best Buy date of Oct. 22.
The possibly contaminated Tillamook cheese was sold at Costco stores between May 9 and May 31. Costco said the Tillamook cheese products were only sold in stores in the Northwest region.
The contaminated cheese items were sold in Oregon, Montana, Washington, Utah, Idaho, and Alaska.
