Volvo Shifts Production to Belgium, Averts China Tariff Concerns
According to insiders within the company, Volvo, which is primarily owned by China's Geely, was contemplating the possibility of suspending the sale of Chinese-made electric vehicles destined for Europe in the event of the implementation of tariffs.
On the other hand, the report mentioned that Volvo's decision to move production of the EX30 and EX90 models from China to Belgium is anticipated to eliminate the necessity for such action.
Additionally, the company emphasized that they are no longer contemplating the suspension of sales for EVs manufactured in China, Reuters reported.
According to the Times, there is a possibility that the manufacturing of certain Volvo models destined for the United Kingdom might be relocated to Belgium.

Volvo Innovates with EV Battery Passport for EX90 SUV
Recently, Volvo introduced an innovative EV battery passport for its highly anticipated EX90 SUV, which is set to enter production in the near future. The passport will document the origins of raw materials, components, recycled content, as well as the carbon footprint of the cars.
Volvo has decided to collaborate with Circulor, a UK-based company, to create the passport. The Circulor system utilizes blockchain technology to track battery materials from the mine to individual cars, leveraging suppliers' production systems to ensure complete supply chain transparency.
The system is capable of monitoring suppliers' monthly energy bills and determining the proportion of energy derived from renewable sources. This information is then used to calculate the overall carbon footprint.
According to Best, the EX90 SUV is expected to be released in Europe and North America in the second half of this year.
