LinkedIn Premium users can now use new AI-powered tools to assess their credentials for open positions or to build better cover letters and resumes.
LinkedIn Premium-Only AI Tools
One feature allows users to explore LinkedIn for employment opportunities by typing a natural language prompt. Tomer Cohen, LinkedIn's chief product officer, used the phrase "find me a remote marketing job in Detroit that pays at least $110,000" as an example in a blog post announcing the new tools.
Another feature is the ability to review your resume and get tailored feedback on making it stand out for a particular job opening. A blog post by LinkedIn's Rohan Rajiv noted that users could make edits interactively with AI after uploading a resume and receiving comments.
Cover letters may also be created from scratch with the help of an AI-powered tool. These tools are in addition to the ability to summarize articles from the LinkedIn feed and other Premium-only AI-powered services that the company began testing towards the end of last year.
However, LinkedIn does not restrict itself to utilizing AI for job search features.
Asking Industry Experts
According to The Verge, LinkedIn is also testing AI versions of a few experts so users can chat with them to get their take on certain business-related subjects.
Cohen said industry professionals have selected the responses and reflect a combination of knowledge customized to meet each user's specific requirements. Alicia Reece, Anil Gupta, Lisa Gates, and Dr. Gemma Leigh Roberts are among the instructors on the list.
LinkedIn New Search Capabilities
LinkedIn said it would use generative AI to enhance the platform's search in general. According to Cohen, the new search capabilities will make all search interactions smarter.
That includes finding people, exploring jobs, doing outreach, and seeking information and answers. Cohen promised that improvements to the search would be implemented in the coming weeks.
