A passenger flying with American Airlines recently made a distressing discovery when she found her lost luggage in a homeless encampment in Hollywood, California. Unfortunately, the contents of the suitcase were missing.

American Airlines Passenger's Luggage Ends Up in Homeless Encampment

Aunny Grace arrived at Hollywood Burbank Airport from Dallas, but her bag ended up taking a much longer journey.

According to Grace, the travel inconvenience began at Dallas Airport on May 29 due to a flight delay.

She spent the night at the Dallas Airport while waiting for her flight back to Hollywood Burbank Airport. She was aware that her luggage would be delayed, but she was not prepared for the unexpected turn of events that followed.

According to NBC New York, Aunny Grace discovered the presence of an Apple AirTag inside her suitcase and is now curious about its origin.

The AirTag ultimately dropped off the bag near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue in Hollywood. She soon discovered that it was situated right in the heart of a homeless encampment in Los Angeles.

Friend Pays Homeless Person to Retrieve Lost Luggage

Grace was with a friend who accompanied her. The friend paid off a homeless person to get her suitcase returned.

The airline is currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the bag's unexpected journey and how it ultimately came into the possession of a homeless individua, Fox News reported.

American Airlines emphasized their commitment to delivering customers' checked luggage and other items on time and in perfect condition, according to a statement.

"We are currently looking into the matter and, in the meantime, one of our team members is reaching out to the customer to offer our apologies and find a solution to the problem," the airline stated.
