Goldman Sachs Appoints Hess CEO as New Independent Member of the Board of Directors

Goldman Sachs has appointed John Hess, CEO of Hess Corporation, to its Board of Directors as an independent member. Hess will also serve on the Board's Compensation, Governance, and Risk Committees effective on Monday, June 24.

Goldman Sachs Appoints Hess CEO to its Board of Directors

John Hess has been at the helm of Hess Corporation since 1995 and has chaired Hess Midstream LP since 2014. He has been a board member of Hess Corporation since 1978, previously holding the chairman position from 1995 to 2013. 

With the upcoming sale of Hess Corporation to Chevron, Hess will step down from his roles at both Hess Corporation and Hess Midstream and join Chevron's Board. He also previously served as an independent director at KKR & Co. Inc. and Dow Chemical Company.

John Hess' Extensive Experience as CEO

Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO David Solomon noted that John Hess' extensive experience as a CEO will be valuable to the Board, the management team, and shareholders, particularly in strategic transformation and global market growth. 

Goldman Sachs Lead Director David Viniar said Hess will bring substantial expertise in strategic development, global business operations, and corporate governance.
