Tesla Cybertruck Recall: Issues With Trim, Wiper Motor

While driving the Cybertruck, a piece of black plastic trim running along the edge of the angled bed wall may fall free and separate from the vehicle.

The disclosures, posted on the NHTSA website, said that if the applique detaches from the vehicle while it is in motion, it might pose a danger to oncoming drivers, increasing the likelihood of an accident or injury.

The safety recall report noted that the issue surfaced when a Cybertruck that had been transported to a distribution location was found to be missing that component.

According to CNN, Tesla's inspection showed that the item was incorrectly placed. Further instances of the trim pieces being loose due to incorrect installation were discovered. A few of these instances occurred on Cybertrucks that had already been sent to clients.

The recommended course of action for Cybertruck owners is to visit a Tesla repair facility to have the trim piece replaced or correctly fixed using "adhesion promotor" and pressure-sensitive tape. Another reason for the recall is a problem with the truck's front windshield wiper motor.

separate report said that the wiper's motor on some vehicles sustained damage during testing, which could lead to failure due to an overabundance of electrical current. The report noted that a "non-functioning windshield wiper" may reduce visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a collision.

Previous Recalls of Tesla

Before this, Tesla had already recalled the Cybertruck due to other issues. Because of a potential problem with the accelerator pedal becoming lodged down, the vehicles were recalled in April.

Due to the undersized font on the warning lights, Tesla recalled 2.2 million cars earlier this year, including Cybertrucks. The issue was resolved through an over-the-air software upgrade.
