'Inside Out 2' has reached an impressive milestone, surpassing $1 billion at the global box office. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it is the first movie to accomplish this since 'Barbie' did so last year.

'Inside Out 2' Hits  $1 Billion in 19 Days

The animated Pixar sequel, released on June 14, has achieved remarkable success at the box office. With a gross of $469.3 million in North America and $545.5 million internationally, the film has amassed a staggering total of $1.015 billion, according to Variety.

In a remarkable feat, the film has shattered a record that was previously held by 'Frozen 2.' It has achieved the impressive milestone of reaching the $1 billion mark faster than any other animated movie in history.

Reaching the billion-dollar benchmark is a significant victory for Disney's Pixar animation hub. In the aftermath of the pandemic, Pixar, a studio that was once known for its remarkable success, has faced challenges at the box office.

Many of the challenges it has faced can be attributed to Disney's decision to release several animated films exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service, both during the closure of theaters and even after they had reopened.

Prior to 'Inside Out 2,' no Disney animated film from Pixar or its Walt Disney Animation studio had surpassed $480 million in global box office revenue since 2019.

'Inside Out 2' has further highlighted the importance of the family audience in driving box office success.

According to data from EntTelligence, the majority of attendees during the film's domestic debut were from an underserved crowd.

While the audience showed immense support for Universal's 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie,' which earned over $1.36 billion worldwide, they had to wait until the recent releases of Sony's 'The Garfield Movie' and Paramount's 'IF' for more entertainment options.

'Inside Out 2' also attracted a significant number of teenagers to theaters, with 14% of moviegoers falling in the 13 to 17 age group. The younger generation has been noticeably less involved in the market in recent years.

This group holds significant importance to the movie industry as it represents the future of moviegoing. Bringing them back to the big screen has become a major focus for studios and movie theater operators.

Coming soon to theaters is 'Despicable Me 4,' the latest installment from Universal and Illumination. This family-friendly film is set to be released during the exciting July Fourth holiday weekend, CNBC reported.
