Delta Airlines recently came under fire for its response to a social media post about its flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the incident started when a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, took photos of flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins, calling them "Hamas badges."

Delta's official X account responded to the tweet, with the person in charge of the account commenting on a personal sentiment of terror.

The tweet has since been deleted, but screenshots were circulated on social media, with some calling for the carrier's boycott.

Delta Apologizes for Tweet

Delta's tweet came as the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas continues, which was triggered after Hamas fighters raided southern Israel on Oct. 7 last year.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the union seeking to organize a chapter for Delta flight attendants called on the airline to apologize, which it did late Thursday (July 11).

In response, CAIR made a statement accepting the apology.

While Delta said that the Palestinian flag pins were compliant with its uniform guidelines, it has since announced that it would only permit US flag pins beginning July 15 to, according to Delta spokesperson Morgan Durrant, ensure a "safe, comfortable, and unwelcoming" environment for all of its passengers.
