Delta Airlines recently came under fire for its response to a social media post about its flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the incident started when a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, took photos of flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins, calling them "Hamas badges."
Since 2001 we take our shoes off in every airport because a terrorist attack in US soil. Now imagine getting into a @Delta flight and seeing workers with Hamas badges in the air. What do you do ? pic.twitter.com/xBbQllq2SM

Delta's official X account responded to the tweet, with the person in charge of the account commenting on a personal sentiment of terror.
The tweet has since been deleted, but screenshots were circulated on social media, with some calling for the carrier's boycott.

Delta Apologizes for Tweet
Delta's tweet came as the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas continues, which was triggered after Hamas fighters raided southern Israel on Oct. 7 last year.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the union seeking to organize a chapter for Delta flight attendants called on the airline to apologize, which it did late Thursday (July 11).
On Wednesday, we removed a reply that was not in line with our values. We strive for an environment of inclusivity & respect for all, in our communities & our planes. The employee responsible no longer supports Delta’s social channels. We apologize for this hurtful post.

In response, CAIR made a statement accepting the apology.
We welcome this apology and hope it sends a message to those who continue to dehumanize the Palestinian people as they face genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced starvation imposed by the far-right Israeli government, and enabled by the Biden admin. https://t.co/0f51mpKCJ5

While Delta said that the Palestinian flag pins were compliant with its uniform guidelines, it has since announced that it would only permit US flag pins beginning July 15 to, according to Delta spokesperson Morgan Durrant, ensure a "safe, comfortable, and unwelcoming" environment for all of its passengers.
