Besides popular destinations, travelers looking for new places to visit can now book a non-stop flight with United Airlines, starting in 2025.
Unique locations included in United Airlines' upcoming flight expansion aren't impossible to reach, but quite hard to access due to the lack of non-stop or direct flights, unlike Paris, Tokyo, and the like.
According to CNBC, beginning May 2025, United Airlines will offer flights from and to off-the-beaten-path areas like Greenland, Mongolia, Palau, Senegal, etc.
To be specific, there will be three flights per week from Newark to Palermo on May 21 and four more flights to Faro Portugal on May 16. More routes will be scheduled in the following months, including nonstop flights to Spain, Madeira Island, and more places.Meanwhile, the airline's first-ever flight to Greenland will be on June 14.
Additionally, United Airlines will fly daily nonstop flights to Senegal on May 23 as well as from Tokyo to Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar on May 1.
Why United Airlines Will Expand Travel Routes
With this approach, United Airlines aims to set itself apart from others that offer the typical routes. After all, this appeals to all types of travelers who prefer to go from unique destination places and smaller cities that aren't often shown as mainstream.
However, United Airlines acknowledges that not all routes succeed. For example, Simple Flying shared that it discontinued flights to 14 European areas so far, including Bergen, Norway. Recently, it also postponed the Faro, Portugal route due to an FAA review. While no major safety concerns were posted, details on when it will proceed remain undisclosed.
Overall, the airline has been quite busy this year with upgrades to its operations and improvements to its edge. Besides the upcoming new flights next year, VCPost also learned that it teamed up with Starlink for a free in-flight internet connection for travelers.
