Fort Lauderfort will soon turn into a replica of Monaco with major renovation that will attract not just tourists, but also global yacht owners.
Led by Rok Enterprises and Related Group, the Bahia Mar marina is going to be an upcoming high-end tourist spot.
According to CNBC, there will be an addition to the beach, like a hotel, condo towers, more restaurants, retail areas, and a beach club. All are currently beneficial to the current status of the place, as a host for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. With this renovation, there will be a new St. Regis hotel as well, equipped with 200 rooms, and replacing the DoubleTree Hotel.
Tourists and global yacht owners will be spread across nearly 40 acres of land and water.
Fort Lauderfort's Bahia Mar Marina Renovation
Related Group developer sees this renovation as a huge opportunity to bring a five-star Monaco-like experience to the area, with complete luxury amenities. Plus, a 25 ft. wide pedestrian promenade, that will allow residents and visitors to enjoy the waterfront.
At the same time, Forbes also noted earlier that the marina will also provide boat slips for yachts that are up to 350 feet long. Yacht owners can also access waterfront dining and a commercial space of 88,000 with shops and restaurants. For tourists, however, a public park along the Intracoastal Waterway will be free to visit.
Overall, the Bahia Mar marina will be catering to the needs of boating enthusiasts, guests, and tourists who want to experience Monaco nearby.
The $2 billion renovation already faced years of delays due to opposition from locals due to the massive space it will occupy. Regardless, now the project is moving forward with a more defined designs and public areas. It is expected to open in late 2029, with each condominium available at $4.4 million and above.
