The highly-anticipated upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is expected to go down in history as the biggest boxing gate outside Las Vegas.
The fight, set for November 15, between the YouTube star who became a boxer and the boxing legend has already sparked enormous attention as it breaks all financial expectations. Currently, it promises groundbreaking records in tickets sold, audience numbers, and livestream attendance.
Record-Breaking Boxing Fight Outside Las Vegas
So far, the match has brought out over 70,000 people, according to CNBC, with many more fans awaiting to assemble at the Dallas Cowboys' stadium.
Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), which promotes the fight, says gate receipts already earned a staggering $17.8 million in revenue alone. In terms of attendance, this is the biggest gate ever for a boxing match outside of Nevada and brought in more than the previous record of $9 million back in 2021, when Canelo Álvarez-Billy Joe Saunders last fought.
In addition, the fight sets records, especially for a non-Las Vegas UFC event, meaning that it surpassed the records set by Conor McGregor in his 2016 New York City match, per Forbes.
It is also a major milestone for Netflix, which will live-stream this fight to its millions of subscribers around the world. It has more than 283 million paid memberships in about 190 countries, and so this fight represents the first step for Netflix in its foray into sports broadcasting away from traditional pay-per-view models.
Both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are set to earn eight-figure paydays from the fight, a huge accomplishment in the history of their careers.
The event is no longer a men's boxing affair as well as it will also televise women's, with Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano in a much-awaited rematch that will see both pocketing record paydays.
