FGF Brands, a major food manufacturer, has recalled over 2 million cases of baked goods, including some donuts sold at Dunkin', due to potential listeria contamination.
The voluntary recall, initiated on January 7, 2025, impacted a wide range of donut products produced on or before December 13, 2024.
The company stressed that the affected items are no longer on the market and that there is no risk to current consumers.
According to FGF, the recall was prompted by precautionary findings at one of its US production facilities.
However, the company made clear that no products or food-contact surfaces tested positive for listeria, CBS News said. The company also emphasized that this recall only applied to donuts sold in the US.
Dunkin' Pastries Safe to Eat, Says FGF Brands Following Recall of 2 Million Items
FGF Brands confirmed that all donuts are entirely safe for consumption. The recall, which impacted 2,017,614 cases, was a response to non-product-related findings, and the company reassured the public that food safety remains their top priority.
In a statement on their website, FGF clarified, "The voluntary recall was a precautionary measure based on non-product-related findings at one of our donut facilities in the US. No donuts or food contact surfaces ever tested positive for listeria."
According to ABC News, listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause listeriosis, an infection that poses greater risks to pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
While the recall was a preventive action, FGF confirmed that no illness or contamination was linked to the recalled products.
Consumers who have questions about the recall are encouraged to contact FGF Brands' customer service at customercare@fgfbrands.com.
The company operates facilities in both the US and Canada and distributes products under various brand names to retailers and food service customers.
The company stressed that the recall has been resolved and there is no impact on products currently available for purchase. Customers can continue to enjoy Dunkin' pastries and other FGF products without concern.
