For so many, our fast-paced and constantly on-the-go world can leave us feeling drained and cut off from others. Ironically, the rise of social media and an interconnected society has created a more disconnected feeling than ever before, leading to a loneliness epidemic.
In response to this growing problem, Attune Media Labs is leveraging the power of AI to address this global mental health crisis. Co-founders David Bosnak and Robert Bosnak combine decades of expertise and research in psychoanalysis, embodied imagination, and engineering to create empathetic virtual companions that can help combat loneliness.
Attune Media Labs' Creative Engineering and Psychological Expertise
While much has been said about the possibilities of AI technology to improve and change lives at work and home, creating more empathetic and emotionally intelligent interactions is not often at the forefront of the discussion. Engineering professional and entrepreneur David Bosnak recognized this area for improvement. Tapping into the psychological expertise of Co-founder Robert Bosnak, the founders worked together to create empathetic entities capable of picking up on nonverbal emotional cues.
Through their joint venture, Attune Media Labs' MiM was created, named as such for its ability to MiMic human communication. Using large-scale language models for conversation and their exclusive patented technology that understands nonverbal cues, including vocal tone, pitch, cadence, and facial expressions, their MiM helps to humanize virtual companions, offering users judgment-free emotional support and understanding.
With a clear commitment to bettering the world around them through technology, Attune Media Labs recognizes the potential for ethical concerns that AI can raise. To address this, the organization consciously implements a safety- and ethics-first framework with its patents and is categorized as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC)
Offering Community Support as Governments Take Note
End users of MiM and administrative bodies are excited by these commitments and advancements. After connecting with MiM to practice and build interpersonal communication skills, users report improvements in connections with their loved ones. Seeking to make a tangible community impact, Attune Media Labs partnered with Healthcare in Action to provide behavioral health support to unhoused populations. They are proud to report four issued U.S. patents and patents pending in the EU and Japan for their combination of AI language processing and biometric emotional data. Currently working to facilitate the integration of MiM into Veteran's Affairs and DoD infrastructure, Attune Media Labs hopes to help prevent veteran suicide in addition to a MiM for oncology patients.
Attuned to What's Next
The organization is brimming with ideas for what may be next on the horizon. Viewing the workforce as one possibility, Attune Media Labs is working to integrate MiM with digital workflows and communications in the business world. Once again, centered on an empathetic approach, the goal would be to incorporate MiM as a trustworthy, perceptive intermediary, not simply another chatbot assistant.
In other exciting avenues, Attune is looking to address and support the mental health of younger generations by incorporating empathetic AI into personal tutors and video games. This proactive approach has the potential to address mental health issues at an earlier age, allowing for emotional support before a crisis point is reached. Undoubtedly, this forward-thinking approach will make Attune Media Labs a company to watch as the AI tech revolution continues.
