A Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. EST, led to the evacuation of all 80 people on board.

The flight, operated by Endeavor Airlines, was carrying 76 passengers and 4 crew members. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, though 19 individuals were treated for injuries, with three being transported to local hospitals, including a child.

According to FoxNews, Delta Flight 4819 was caught in strong winds and snow as it approached the runway. Winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, had been reported by air traffic control.

Photos from the scene showed the aircraft overturned on the runway, with its belly facing up. Passengers were quickly evacuated, and emergency responders arrived promptly.

"Several customers with injuries were transported to area hospitals," said Delta in a statement. "Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted."

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash. While the plane's sudden flip and fire are under examination, the strong weather conditions at the time of the incident are being considered as a possible factor.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is leading the investigation, with support from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Toronto Mayor Relieved All Passengers Safe After Delta Plane Crash at Pearson Airport

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed relief that all passengers and crew were accounted for. "I'm relieved to learn that all passengers and crew are accounted for after today's plane crash at Toronto Pearson," she wrote on social media, thanking first responders and staff for their quick actions, ABC News said.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian also acknowledged the swift response of emergency teams. "The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today's incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport," he said. "I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site."

Following the crash, Toronto Pearson Airport temporarily halted all flights. By 5:00 p.m. EST, operations resumed, and both arrivals and departures returned to normal.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz shared his gratitude for the efforts of those on the scene, writing on social media, "Grateful to the first responders and professionals on the scene."

The crash happened in the middle of a winter storm that included blowing snow and gusty winds. These extreme weather conditions might have played a role in the aircraft's loss of control.

Local emergency services confirmed that while some passengers sustained minor injuries, there were no serious life-threatening injuries among the passengers.

Peel Regional Paramedic Services Superintendent Lawrence Saindon shared, "The remaining ones are all walking wounded, with cuts and scrapes, nothing serious at all."

Of the three individuals taken to hospitals, one was a child who was transported to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. The others were taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center and St. Michael's Hospital.
