Billionaire investor Carl Icahn filed a lawsuit last Thursday against Dell Inc. The move from the activist investor was an attempt to block the computer maker from scheduling a new record date ahead of its shareholders' voting session. The move also caused the company'sshareholders to draw battle lines against the USD24.4 billion takeover bid from Dell Inc's founder, Michael Dell and Silver Lake.
Dell Inc ranked as the third biggest computer maker in the world. The company's founder, Michael Dell and partner Silver Lake, has offered more than USD24 million to take the company private. However, Carl Icahn strongly opposed the proposed bid and said that it undervalues the company.
Icahn has urged fellow shareholders to reject Dell's offer. The former included a list of demands in the lawsuit he filed, such as preventing the company's CEO and his affiliates to vote any shares purchased after February 5.
Dell Inc. refused to comment regarding the said report.
