Thomson Reuters appoints retired private equity lawyer to Board of Directors

New York City-based Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company announced Thursday that Steve Turnball had joined its board of directors. Turnball completed the roster of 15 members comprising the Founders Share Company's board of directors.

The Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company is reponsible for making sure the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles are constantly upheld by each member of the company. The Trust Principles function as a guide for each employee of the Thomson Reuters business that emphasizes integrity, independence and freedom from bias in news reporting and dissemination.

Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, Chairman of the Founders Share Company's Board, said, "Steven Turnbull has been well known to and highly respected by our Board thanks to his many years as our principal legal advisor. He will now add this strength to the Board as a trustee. He was close to the process of combining Reuters with the Thomson Corporation five years ago, and brings valuable understanding of the workings of a news organization. I look forward to continuing our cooperation with him as a board member," remarked Founders Share Company Board Chairman Uffe Ellemann-Jensen regarding Turnbull.

Turnbull, who specialises in equity offerings, corporate advisory and publich & private M&A, practises as a lawyer for 30 years in London, England before retiring. Prior to his appointment in Thomson Reuters, the retired British lawyer served at Shephered and Wedderburn for five years.
