Venice Beach tragedy comes to a close

By

Last Saturday evening, the man suspected of plowing his car through the Venice Beach boardwalk that killed a woman and injuring many others surrendered himself to the Santa Monica Poiice Department.

The man was identified as Nathan Campbell, a 35 year old resident of Los Angeles. Campbell was arrested and booked for murder at the Metropolitan Detention Center. His bail was set at US$1 million,

According to LAPD Commander Andrew Smith, "It's certainly a terrible tragedy would do this apparently on purpose, go out there and drive down a crowded boardwalk with the intent to hurt a lot of people. It's a terrible tragedy for the woman that was killed and her family."

The Venice Beach boardwalk is one of the tourist hubs in Santa Monica, with its line of vendors, bodybuilders and other hawkers. The surrounding areas though has undergone a renaissance, becoming one of the new hubs in the area. Amongst the firms that have called a Venice Beach address is search engine giant Google, which had opened its local office in the area. The plan is to build a Silicon Valley style system in the neighborhood.
