Guy Hands, a UK-based private equity firm executive, revealed it had placed Infinis up for sale. Infinis is the UK's biggest independent renewable energy producer. Infinis generates up to 7% of Britain's renewable electricity through various solutions including wind, landfill, and hydro-electricity farms. The energy enterprise currently employs at least 400 people in 146 power plants across the country.
Guy Hands acquired Infinis in 2003 for a price of around EUR122 million or GBP106 million. According to a report by Sunday Times, Guy Hands is amenable to a stock float on the London stock exchange or an outright sale of the energy provider. Today, analysts place the company's value at GBP1.5 billion.
The proposed transaction follows Guy Hands' pricey acquisition and eventual loss of EMI, a record label, in 2011. Hands was pressured to hand over EMI to Citigroup when Hand's private equity unit, Terra Firma, had to default on loan settlements.
