Data Point Capital's Scott Savitz, a venture capitalist, revealed they had invested up to US$5.5 million into Vee24. Scott Savitz is the founder of Shoebuy.com, an online retailer, and Data Point Capital. James Keller, former Shoebuy.com chief marketing officer, had been assigned the role of chief executive officer at Vee24. Sean Marsh of Point Judith Capital also participated in this funding round.
Vee24 is a UK-based startup that provides e-commerce sites marketing solutions by way of video chat. "This lets you make the same kind of face-to-face connection you can make in real-world retail. There's no question that it's a different kind of connection than being able to do text chat," Mr. Savitz said. Aside from its main e-commerce product, Vee24 markets the VeeStudio. VeeStudio is a packaged webcam platform engineered for use in call centers.
Mr. Keller said he was now searching for a commercial space for his main office in Boston and in Kendall Square.
