Today, Microsoft launched a web site called Microsoft by the Numbers. The company's latest website currently features the live tiles interface of Windows 8 and displays facts about Microsoft.
"In the spirit of live tiles, we'll update this site frequently, so you can keep apprised of the progress we're making in our transition to a devices and services company, and of how many cans of Coke Zero we're consuming each year (hint: it's the most popular soda on our campus)," Microsoft's corporate vice president of corporate communications, Frank Shaw, wrote in a blog post.
The site featured the company's summary. However, no numbers were displayed about the Windows Phone 8.
The site showed that the employees of Microsoft consumed around 2.6 million gallons of free beverages each year, almost 40% was Coke Zero. The beverage consumption tile also displayed that the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta utilizes the Kinect sensors of Microsoft for the company's interactive exhibits. About 554,000 slices of pizza and an extra 250,000 personal-sized pizzas were consumed every year by Microsoft's workers in their cafeterias.
Furthermore, Microsoft's personnel "Giving" campaign donated US$1 billion to over 31,000 charities. The tech titan's art collections, with around 4,728 pieces, were also displayed in 180 worldwide establishments. Microsoft by the Numbers also exhibited facts about the company's crucial numbers in its enterprise. According to the site, there are currently 400 million active Outlook.com mail users. The Windows Phone Store has 170,000 apps. The company was able to sell 100 million Windows 8 licenses and store 11 billion photos on SkyDrive.
