General Electric (GE) is boosting its renewable energy program in the Baltic area. GE recently announced that it would power the Paldiski Wind Farm in Estoniaas it provided 18 wind turbines .
The Paldiski Wind Farm opened earlier in the week with the company's officials including its President as guests. The wind farm is touted to help nations in Europe to meet their renewable energy goals.
The installation of the wind turbines in Estonia will provide the country with an alternative source of power that will help keep its renewable output target of 20%, along with the 10% in the transportation sector.
Recently, GE had to scrap plans for a Solar Power Plant in the United States that needed USD300 million. Instead of pushing through with the project, GE sold part of its solar technology to First Solar with whom it will conduct research at several GE locations in upstate New York.
