Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Taiwanese firm popular for manufacturing iPhones and iPads, would expand its television assembly enterprise. Hon Hai signed a sales partnership deal with the convenience stores of 7-Eleven in Taiwan.
Taiwanese operator of 7-Eleven stores, President Chain Store Corp, said it shipped over 10,000 of Hon Hai's large and web-connected televisions across the country. Hon Hai and President Chain Store said they might both cooperate to manufacture smartphones and tablets in the future.
Consumers of the 7-Eleven-branded televisions could place their orders on the website of 7-Eeven or in person in over 4,800 7-Eleven outlets in Taiwan. The 40-inch TV is currently worth TWD12,888 while the 60-inch TV cost TWD39,900. The cost of the 70-inch TV is TWD69,900. The TVs were preloaded with 7-Eleven online stores' link and Facebook page.
In 2012, Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou acquired a 50% share in the advanced panel-making factory of Sharp Corp in Sakai, Japan. The move reflected the corporation's attempt to expand in the television market.
