Carlyle Group LP is the second biggest manager of alternative assets in the world. The company's managed assets included private equities. Carlyle Group announced hiring an executive from GE Capital to co-head its energy team.
Matthew O'Connor joined the company as he took a seat as Carlyle's managing director for the power-investing team. This was said in a statement released today by the Washington-based firm. Together with O'Connor, Bob Mancini will also co-manage the team. Carlyle Group is currently investing with Cogentrix Energy power group.
In a statement, Mancini said that O'Connor would lend valuable help to lead the execution of the company's strategy. This was after remarkable opportunities in the electric power generation space in the US market were seen.
Matthew O'Connor worked as an Executive Vice President for Financing Operations of GE Capital Aviation Services before joining Carlyle Group.
