Tokyo-based LIXIL Corp announced completed its acquisition of ASD Americas Holding Corp. LIXIL purchased a 100% stake of the parent firm of New Jersey-based American Standard Brands for USD 542 million. The Japanese holding company bought the shares from a Sun Capital Partners affiliate company.
The latest acquisition is part of LIXIL's strategy to continue its worldwide expansion. The purchase of American Standard Brands would enable the Japanese firm to scale the North American market. It would also strengthen LIXIL's manufacturing and technological capabilities. American Standard is a manufacturer of premium quality bath and kitchen products for the residential and commercial segments. Aside from North America, American Standard also serves customers in Canada and Mexico.
North American curtain wall contractor Permasteelisa Group is also owned by the LIXIL Group. The subsidiary currently gives the Japanese holdings revenues of about JPY 39 billion. LIXIL's international sales make for 20% of the group's revenues. LIXIL leads the Japanese market as the country's number one housing and building materials firm.
