Serena Williams breezed through the semifinals of this year's US Open. In the first game today, she defeated Li Na, 6-0, 6-3, despite the latter's heroic effort near the end of the match. The younger of the Williams sisters and the number one seed would face Victoria Azarenka this Sunday for the US Open 2013 Finals.
Second-seed Victoria Azarenka played next after Williams. Azarenka defeated Italian Flavia Pennetta in the first semifinals match that lasted a little over an hour and thirty minutes. This Sunday's game would be a replay of last year's match between the Williams and Azarenka, the top two tennis players in the world.
Four-time champion Williams was ranked by Forbes at number 56 in the Celebrity 100. She is the 68th highest paid athlete in the world as well. She has earnings of USD 20 million as of June 2013. Her salary and winnings comprised USD 8.5 million. Her endorsements totaled USD 12 million.
According to Forbes, Williams has endorsements for Wilson, Nike, and Gatorade among others. She also holds a stake in Sleep Sheets, HSN, Mission and the Miami Dolphins.
