Last Friday, General Mills announced a voluntary recall of its pastry product, Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing. The company said that it had sent out cautions to the public that a limited quantity of this specific product might contain fragments from a broken plastic piece on its production line. The debris might have been incorporated in the dough. The recall was issued nationwide United States according to Daily Finance on Friday.
The problem appeared to be specific and short term, and had only affected a small run of the sugary breakfast rolls. The recall included eight-count single packages and double packages containing icing.
General Mills includes a leading portfolio of brands including Cheerios, Betty Cocker, Pillsbury and Nature Valley among others. The company generates around USD18 billion in annual sales. Most of its sales come from US retail products that are sold in more than 100 global markets. The company also has a growing international business that contributes USD5.2 billion in sales annually.
