In an announcement, IMAX Corporation and Gulf Film formalized an expansion of their partnership through a revenue share agreement. The agreement covers three IMAX theater systems located in different countries in the Middle East region.
Under the agreement's provisions, one of the IMAX theaters would be in a multiplex in Dubai while two would be in flagship IMAX cinemas located in Qatar and Bahrain.
According to Gulf Film Managing Director, "Since upgrading to the IMAX digital system in 2011, our IMAX theater in Dubai has dramatically increased its business and has had a major impacct on our overall box office performance."
He added, "Today's agreement, which is a direct of this success, marks a milestone in the region's film entertainment landscape and highlights the growing demand for IMAX among audiences in the Middle East. As we expand our circuit, IMAX will continue to serve as a key differentiator in our offering, bringing movie-goers the world's most immersive cinematic experience."
