Swiss Re Ltd hired a former Deutsche Bank executive to manage its acquisitions and principal investments unit. Christopher Minter would be starting to work next month for the world's second largest reinsurer. Swiss Re spokesman Rolf Tanner told Bloomberg that Minter would be reporting directly to Group Chief Strategy Officer John Dacey. Minter was the Head of Private Equity in the asset management unit of Deutsche Bank before his resignation last year.
Sources told PEHub early in January that Minter was one of the several senior executives who left Deutsche Bank last year. His exit was said to be due to the bank's failure to sell a portion of its asset management unit. The lender was previously in talks to sell its fund business to Guggenheim Partners, but the negotiations did not push through.
According to sources interviewed by PEHub, Minter left Deutsche Bank in October 2012. Other executives in the bank's private equity business who made an exit last year included John Crocker, the Co-Head of Private Markets in North America and Chris Burnham, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Assets Management Unit.
