On Tuesday, Electronic Arts Inc. named sports and digital games division head Andre Wilson as the company's new chief executive officer. This was after a six month search to replace former CEO John Riccitiello.Former CEO Riccitiello stepped down from his post last March 30 after taking responsibility for the company's missed operational targets.
Wilson joined EA in 2000 and had led the company's games division and sports game label. The company publishes top titles including the soccer franchise "FIFA".Wilson started his career at EA with an annual base salary of USD800,000. He would be eligible for a bonus of 150% once he had hit his targets, the company said.
According to EA's Executive Chairman Larry Probst said in a blog post, "Andrew is the first studio executive to serve as our CEO, a testament to his blend of creative skills and business acumen."
Electronic Arts' stock was little changed during the extended trading after the announcement. The stock increased 2.4% to USD27.60 at the trading close in New York.
