DE Master Blenders said it would appoint ex-Mars Inc. executive Pierre Laubies as its new chief executive officer. The appointment would be done after the investment firm Joh A. Benckiser completes its acquisition of the coffee company. This was according to a person familiar with the matter.
Laubies formerly worked as an adviser at CVC Capital Partners which ran Mars' global pet food business. He would replace Michiel Herkemij who stepped down from office last December after only 12 months in charge. The Amsterdam based company might announce the appointment today. This would only be possible once the company had obtained sufficient shares to close its tender offer. This was according to the same source who asked not to be name as the appointment was held private in nature.
Master Blenders is also poised to name JAB co-chiefs Peter Harf, Olivier Goudet and Bart Becht along with Byron Trott, head of BDT Capital Partners LLC into its board of directors. BDT Capital is the investment firm helping to fund the acquisition transaction.
A spokesperson for Master Blenders declined to comment.
