BlueData Inc, a startup that secures big data private cloud for businesses, said it gathered capital commitments amounting to USD 15 million in its Series B round. The fundraising was led by Ignition Partners. Existing investors Atlantic Bridge Ventures, Amplify Partners, Intel Capital and Data Collective also joined in the round. Other investors who also gave their support to the startup included ServiceNow CEO Frank Slootman, Maginatics CEO Amarjit Gill and Riverbed President Eric Wolford.
As part of the deal, Managing Partner Nick Sturiale of Ignition Partners would be joining the board of directors of BlueData.
Sturiale said, "BlueData's purposeful and innovative approach to Big Data struck a chord with us. We are thrilled to work with Kumar and his team, and believe the company has real potential to make a big difference in the Big Data world."
BlueData was established by Kumar Sreekanti and Tom Phelan, both of whom were former executives at VMware. No other details were released about the firm's first product which is said to be undergoing private testing.
