The United States Postal Service featured blind singer-songwriter Ray Charles in its new forever stamp. Postal officials in Los Angeles unveiled an oversized stamp of the Soul and R& B singer. Charles was part of a special series of stamps known as "music icons forever" released by the USPS.
During the unveiling at the Grammy Museum, singer Chaka Kahn said, "This is going to be something that people are going to see all around the world, like he was - known all around the world." The stamps may be bought online or at local post offices. The "Ray Charles Forever" stamp costs USD 7.37 for a sheet of 16.
Last year, the USPS posted a USD net loss of 5.2 billion for the quarter ending June 30, according to a New York Times report. Compared to the same period last year, the amount represented a revenue decrease of USD 153 million.
