Safetica Technologies had introduced its flagship data loss protection (DLP) software in the Philippines. Together with Valueline Systems and Solutions Corporation, SAFETICA launched sales of Safetica 5, the DLP solution that protects firms from data breaches caused by people within the company. Whether accidental or malicious, the human factor comprised 80% of all threats to data security of a company, according to data from Ponemon Research. Although external attacks from hackers immediately attract media attention, they only comprise 20% of data breaches.
Safetica Technologies CTO Pavel Kratky said they see business potential in the Philippines. "We see substantial potential here in the Philippines with local businesses focused on the growing internal market and with companies in the international arena where data protection is a condition of doing business," he said.
Earlier in June, the Philippine Star reported that the Department of Science and Technology had placed an extra layer of security on the country's online assets. However, the report did not specify financial figures on the cybersecurity initiative. A report from ABI Research released in July revealed that cybersecurity spending in critical infrastructure areas would increase to USD 46 billion this year. Of that amount, spending in Europe and North America would comprise at least USD 30 billion.
