BlackBerry may soon be leaving the business of making smartphones, leaving many keyboard purists bemoaning the exit of the ubiquitous design moaning for its demise. One of them GR Communications President Gord Rosko had said it was not good at all.
Rosko, who heads the Edmonton, Alberta based consulting firm said, "What I call my fat Polish fingers have a hard time with touch screen keyboars. So I'm going to keep using this thing until I can't anymore."
The exit of BlackBerry from the smartphone manufacturing business was only fortified after its announcement of disastrous financial results in the last quarter. The quarterly loss was estimated at USD1 billion. Last week, the company said if the results were bad, it would place less focus on its handset line.
The downfall of BlackBerry was precipitated by the introduction of a touchscreen keyboard by Apple's iPhone. Now, the other smartphone makers such as Samsung and Motorola Mobility is taking up the cudgels of the niche market that BlackBerry may leave behind.
