On Tuesday, Power group EDF had confirmed that it has started its exclusive talks to acquire public lighting and urban electrical equipment company Citelum. EDF hadbeen talking with owner Dalkia France, an energy services group. An earlier press report speculated that EDF has started working on its bid with Citelum.
EDF, or Électricité de France SA is headquartered in the capital of Paris, France. The power group has a portfolio composing of assets that produces over 120,000 megawatts of generation capacity. The world's largest producer of electricity had reported revenues of EUR65.2 billion in 2010.
In a statement by EDF, it had indicated that the bid for Citelum was strategic. Citelum manages over 2.3 million lighting points. 74% of Citelum's turnover for 2012 was incurred offshore.
EDF is a part-owner of Dalkia at 34%. Water and waste group Veolia owned a 66% stake in the French energy services group.
