According to an internal memo acquired by Reuters, Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA Merrill Lynch) executive Jiro Seguchi would be moving to Hong Kong from Tokyo to solely head the bank's Asia Pacific investment banking business. Seguchi was co-heading the Asia Pacific Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) from Japan with Jayanti Bajpai.
Bajpai and Seguchi had been heading the Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Asia Pacific investment banking business since 2009.
Seguchi was also Japan's executive and Merrill Lynch Japan's president. Until a replacement would be named, Seguchi would be keeping his responsibilities with Merrill Lynch's local arm in Japan.
Bajpai, on the other hand, would be moving to London early next year. He was appointed as BofA Merrill Lynch's vice chairman in investment banking business for the EMEA region, the memo added. EMEA stands for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
When Reuters contacted the bank for comment, a BofA spokesman had confirmed the memo's contents.
