A television commercial scheduled to be aired on Sunday Night Football likened House Speaker John Boehner to a baby throwing a tantrum. The ad also blamed the Republicans for the federal government shutdown.
According to news website Opposing Views, the ad featured a wailing baby seen close up. In the background, a narrator could be heard speaking, "Speaker John Boehner didn't get his way on shutting down health care reform. So, he's shut down the government and hurt the economy."
A CBS DC report said the House Majority PAC was behind the ad. The report further said the group would be buying a six-figure broadcast television ad against other Republican representatives.House Majority PAC is an outside political group which supports the House Democrats and had blamed Republicans for the government shutdown.
According to a Forbes report published in June, NBC's Sunday Night Football (SNF) commercials cost USD 500,000 for every 30-second spot. The report said this was a bargain for advertisers considering that SNF had an audience of 21.4 million viewers on the average per game last year.
