Last Monday, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. made an announcement stating former World Bank Group president Robert Zoellick would join the investment bank again as its international advisory board chairman. The appointed marked the second stint of Zoellick at Goldman Sachs. Before taking his position at World Bank in 2007, Zoellick was Goldman Sach's vice chairman, international at the investment bank.
US President Barack Obama did not re-nominate Zoellick after the expiration of his term last 2012. Instead Obama tapped Dr. Jim Yong Kim, former Dartmouth University president.
After leaving the World Bank, Zoellick had joined the board of Temasek Holdings as well as the advisory board of Rolls-Royce Group.
Zeollick would oversee an advisory board at Goldman Sachs. The said advisory board would help identify sources of international business or investment for the bank's clients. Other members of Goldman's advisory board would include Otmar Issing, former member of the European Central Bank executive board and former Swedish Finance Minister Erik Asbrink.
